Jeff had decided he wanted to try a new to us tasting menu for his birthday dinner. After spending some time researching and looking through lots of Yelp pictures, he landed on Violet and made a reservation for last Saturday night.

Jeff really outdid himself with my birthday meal this year by making everything from scratch.

The first time I saw a canelé was inside Pine Street Market in Portland. I don’t think we purchased one, but I remember wondering what was inside and if they were tasty. Jeff recently decided to try making these at home.
